-
Induce high frequency sound waves into tube, defects will echo back the signals to be detectable.
-
Can be used on a wide variety of carbon steel materials as well as some SS. Suitable for tubes 2”OD & 1/4” wall thickness, and larger.
-
Great for ID & OD sensitivity. Can inspect flash in material.
-
Excellent repeatability and calibration retention.
-
Liquid couplant needed, surface temperature must be below boiling temperatures.
-
Hard to detect small defects at high speed

System

-
High frequency acoustic waves are sent from the transducer into the material through a couplant (mill/coolant/water).
-
Any reflection of the wave back to the transducer from the discontinuity creates an electrical signal signifying that there is a defect/anomaly present.
-
Min OD 2” (50mm) and up
-
Min Wall Thickness 0.125” (3mm) and larger
-
Max tested speed up to 300ft/min (91m/min)
